1300 ’Safira’ ship with the group of divers – departure to the area of archaeological rescue work 1630 ‘IMOR’ ship – departure to the area of archaeological rescue work

Tuesday 07 June 2011

0400 Both ships on the position – ready to work. 0450-0730 Research of the object using side scan sonar and multibeam echo-sounder survey. 1145 First couple of divers goes under water. 1145 – 1940 Archaeological underwater works, production of the film and photographic documentation of the wreck.

Wednesday 08 June 2011

1500 First cannon lifted from the seabed.

Thursday 09 June 2011

0900 Bad weather, approaching storm – decision to stop research works. The ships go back to the port in Gdynia.

Friday 10 June 2011

1300 The cannon is being unloaded and transported to the Laboratory of WaterloggedWood Protection in Tczew (part of Polish Maritime Museum in Gdańsk) for conservation.


STAGE II


Sunday 12 June 2011

1500 ’Safira’ ship with the group of divers – departure to the area of archaeological rescue work. 1600 ‘IMOR’ ship – departure to the area of archaeological rescue work. 1700 Polish Navy rescue ship ‘ORP Piast’ – departure to the area of archaeological rescue work.

Monday 13 June 2011

0600 ‘ORP Piast’ sets for works on the wreck containing cast iron canons; 3 anchors dropped. 0600 ‘IMOR’ starts preparations for continuing archaeological and rescue works; cameramen ready to continue filming. 1000 – 1500 Underwater archaeological and filming works. 1500 – 1800 ‘ORP Piast’ lifts 2 cannons which will be placed on IMOR and passed for further conservation. 1830 ‘IMOR’ moored to the side of ‘ORP Piast’. 1850-2000 Transshipment of the cannons from ‘ORP Piast’ to ‘IMOR’.

0845 ‘IMOR’ and ‘ORP Piast’ crew start diving. 1500 Divers from ‘IMOR’ come back on board. 1800 ‘ORP Piast’ divers come back on board; more cannons lifted on the Navy Ship.

Wednesday 15.06.2011

0800 ‘ORP Piast’ crew starts diving – more cannons lifted. 1035 ‘IMOR’ crew starts diving. 1700 ‘IMOR’ goes to port in Ustka for a change of crew. 1800 ‘ORP Piast’ has finished lifting works and goes back to Gdańska Bay.

Thursday 16.06.2011

‘IMOR’ sets on the position of the second wreck 0900 Archaeological Works on the second wreck. Archaeologists make measurements. Film crew prepares documentation of the finding. Divers look for the artefacts. 1700 Sudden break of the weather. ‘IMOR’ crew finishes diving. ’Safira’ raises the anchor. Both ships go back to the Gdańska Bay.

0900 – 1330 ‘ORP Piast’ Navy Ship, ‘IMOR’ and ’Safira’ cooperate to leave the cannons in the underwater museum and place them on the seabed(next to Solen wreck). 1420 ‘IMOR’ and ’Safira’ moor in port of Gdynia. 1500 The end of expedition.
